July 2009
To St. Lawrence University Students and Parents: |
With the current level of education costs, we have had a concern for the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave St. Lawrence University before the semester is completed. In many instances, it means not only the loss of time invested in studies, but also the loss of the semester's costs.
We are pleased to advise you of an insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP), which will minimize the financial portion of the loss. This elective insurance plan provides coverage for tuition, room, board, and activity fee charges. Accordingly, the costs insured for the 2009/2010 academic year are $49,915.
This Plan significantly extends and enhances the University's published refund policy, which is described on page 221 of the current St. Lawrence University catalog. If a student withdraws because of a personal illness or accident, the Plan returns up to 100% of the insured term tuition, fees, room and board. If a student withdraws because of mental illness or emotional problems, the Plan returns up to 60% of insured term tuition, fees, room and board.
We are providing the Tuition Refund Plan as an option for students and parents. It is an inexpensive form of protection and we urge that you carefully read the coverage section and consider the advantages. To enroll online, simply complete the application and submit payment. Payment is due before the student commences classes. If you have any questions, please call Dewar directly at (617) 774-1555.
Sincerely,
Mary K. Cosmo Director of Student Financial Services |
