School of Visual Arts

June 2013

To Our Students and Parents:
With the current level of education costs, we have a concern for the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave the School of Visual Arts before the semester is completed. In many instances, it means not only the loss of time invested in studies, but also the loss of the semester's costs.

We are pleased to advise you of an important insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan (T.R.P.), which can minimize the financial portion of the loss. This elective insurance plan provides protection of tuition, fees and applicable room charges. Students may choose the amount they wish to insure at an annual cost ranging from $80.00 to $600.00.

This plan significantly extends and enhances the School's published refund policy. Benefits are available up to a 90% refund throughout the term, even after the School's own refund policy has expired. This is especially beneficial when you are forced to withdraw and then return for a later term. The chart below illustrates how the Tuition Refund Plan complements our refund schedule for tuition costs when a withdrawal occurs due to medical reasons, including mental health reasons:

We are providing the Tuition Refund Plan as an option for students and parents. It is vital that those who wish to participate online submit the application and payment before the opening date of classes. Applications cannot be accepted on or after opening day. Questions about the program may be directed to A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. at (617) 774-1555.

Our experience with withdrawals makes us enthusiastic supporters of this kind of protection. We encourage your participation.
