Dear Parents and Students:
We are providing this information to you for two reasons. First, we are complying with Federal regulations that require us to inform each student of the University’s refund policy. Second, we are providing enrollment information for the A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. Tuition Refund Plan that assists families in cases where a student must withdraw during a term due to accident or illness. We are providing the A.W.G. Dewar information to you only as a convenience. We neither endorse nor recommend against using this optional service.

The Susquehanna refund policies can be obtained from the University and also appear in University publications such as the academic catalog supplement for 2014-2015. We encourage you to review the policies and to ask us any questions you may have before charges for the fall term are incurred on August 25, the first day of classes.

Although the University refund policies provide some financial credit if a student is forced to withdraw during approximately the first half of a term due to accident or illness, it does not provide for a full refund. In fact, in cases where a student becomes ill or is injured later in a term, there may be little or no refund under the University policies. The Dewar Tuition Refund Plan assures you of a 75% refund of any funds paid by you for tuition, room, meal plan, health fee, and student activity fee for the semester that the student is unable to complete due to medical reasons. Please contact Dewar directly with any questions concerning these provisions.

The Dewar Tuition Refund Plan is optional and totally voluntary on your part. The annual premium for 2014-2015 for a full-time resident student is $486 and for a full-time non-resident student is $383. Please read the coverage section carefully and completely. If you are interested in purchasing the coverage online, please complete the application and submit payment before August 25, 2014, the first day of classes. Applications cannot be accepted on or after that date. Any questions about the coverage should be addressed to Mr. John M. Strain of A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. at (617) 774-1555.

We hope that this information is helpful.

Respectfully Yours,

Christa K. Eberle
Bursar
