Hobart and William Smith Colleges

To Our Students and Parents:
With the current level of education costs, we have had a concern for the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave Hobart and William Smith Colleges before the term is completed. In many instances, it means not only the loss of time invested in studies, but also the loss of the term's costs.

We are pleased to advise you of an insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan (T.R.P.), which will minimize the financial portion of the loss. This elective insurance plan provides coverage for tuition, room, board and fees for students living on campus. Tuition, 45 meal plan, and fees are covered for students living off campus. Accordingly, the costs insured for the 2013/2014 academic year are $57,850 for on campus students and $47,414 for off campus students.

This Plan significantly extends and enhances the Colleges' published refund policy. You are assured of a 100% refund throughout the term even after the College's own refund policy has expired. This is especially beneficial when you are forced to withdraw and then return for a later term. In effect, you will not have to pay to repeat lost credit hours. Please see Hobart and William Smith Colleges Catalogue for the Colleges' refund share for tuition, room and board charges.

Note: For mental health withdrawals, the T.R.P. pays up to 60% of the costs insured.

The cost of this plan for the academic year is $405.00 for on-campus students and $332.00 for off-campus students. The coverage section describes the plan in detail. Please read it carefully. If you wish to subscribe to the plan online, please submit the application and payment. In order to be accepted, your application must be received before August 26, 2013, the first day of class. Applications cannot be accepted on or after this date.

Since this plan has proven to be an effective means of protecting parents' investment in their children's education, we are pleased to present it for your consideration. Questions regarding the plan should be addressed to A.W.G. Dewar at (617) 774-1555.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Paparo, CPA
