Saint Anselm College

2013/2014 Academic Year

Dear Parents and Students:

With the current level of educational costs, we have a concern for the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave Saint Anselm College before the semester is completed. In many instances, this means the inability to complete their course of study, yet they have already paid the tuition and related costs.

We are pleased to make you aware of an insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan (T.R.P.), which will provide relief for students and families facing this situation. This elective insurance plan, administered by A.W.G. Dewar of Quincy, Massachusetts, provides coverage for tuition, room and board charges in case the student is required to withdraw from school due to a personal illness or accident.

This Plan significantly extends and enhances the College's published refund policy. Under the Saint Anselm College refund policy, a student is entitled to a refund, which is calculated on a declining percentage basis, as follows:

Tuition up to the fifth week of the semester
Housing up to the twelfth week of the semester
Meal Plan on a daily basis

Under the T.R.P., after the College's refund policy has been applied, you are eligible to receive a payment covering the remaining portion of the cost of the student's education. This is especially beneficial when it is necessary for the student to withdraw and then return to continue his/her course of study. In effect, you will not have to pay to repeat lost education. For example, for a medical/physical withdrawal,

  • If the student received a partial refund of the cost of tuition, room and board from the College, the T.R.P. would refund the remainder so that the student receives a total of 100%.

  • If the student received no refund from the College, the T.R.P. would refund 100%.
Please note that for mental health withdrawals, the T.R.P. pays 60% of the costs insured.

We are pleased to present the T.R.P. as an option for students and parents, and we suggest that you carefully read the coverage section, which describes the program in more detail. If you wish to subscribe online, please submit the application and payment before September 2, 2013, the opening date of school. Any questions regarding the plan should be directed to A.W.G. Dewar at (617) 774-1555.

Sincerely,

Katie L. Dionne
