| To Our Students and Parents: |
Given the substantial financial commitment that students and their families must make to underwrite a course of study at Franklin Pierce University, we have become increasingly concerned regarding ways to protect the financial investment of Pierce families in this educational enterprise. Of particular concern are those students who, through illness or accident, may be required to leave school in the middle of a semester, with subsequent loss of funds already invested in that semester's fees.
We are pleased to inform you of an insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan (T.R.P.), which will minimize the financial portion of the loss. This elective insurance plan provides coverage for Tuition, Room and Board charges in that it extends and enhances the existing refund policy as published in the University catalog.
You are assured of a 75% refund throughout the term even after the University's refund policy has expired. This is especially beneficial when you are forced to withdraw and then return for a later term. In effect, you will not have to pay to repeat lost education. The chart below illustrates how the new T.R.P. complements our own tuition refund schedule for Medical withdrawals. |
| Coverage Schedule | | If the Withdrawal Occurs Within | University Refunds | The T.R.P. Refunds | Student Receives | | 14 days after 1st scheduled class | 80% | 0% | 80% | | 21 days after 1st scheduled class | 60% | 15% | 75% | | 28 days after 1st scheduled class | 40% | 35% | 75% | | 35 days after 1st scheduled class | 20% | 55% | 75% | | After 35 days 1st scheduled class | 0% | 75% | 75% |
|
Note: Refunds for students receiving Title IV Financial Aid will be prorated in accordance with federal regulations.
We are providing the Tuition Refund Plan as an option for students and parents. It is an inexpensive form of protection, and we urge that you carefully read the coverage section and consider the advantages. It is vital that those who wish to participate online submit the application and premium payment before the opening day of University. Applications cannot be accepted on or after the opening day, Tuesday, August 31, 2010. If you have any questions, please call A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. directly at (617) 774-1555.
Sincerely yours,
MaryRose Sideleau Manager of Student Accounts |
