Dear Parents and Students:
Given the substantial financial commitments that students and their families must make to underwrite a Williams education, we continue to seek ways to protect the investment of our students’ families. Of particular concern are students who through illness, injury or accident may be required to leave in the middle of a semester and forfeit payments already made to Williams.

Accordingly, the college offers the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) through A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. as a way of protecting that investment at a reasonable cost to parents.

The Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) is a private insurance program that supplements Williams’ refund policy as published in the Williams College Student Handbook and on the Bursar’s Office website. TRP subscribers may file a claim for a refund throughout the term, even if the college’s refund policy has expired at the time of the student’s withdrawal. All medical withdrawals are insured equally at 80% of the tuition charges for the semester that are not covered by the college’s refund policy. Please note that this benefit has been reduced from an 85% benefit last year to 80% for the 2014-15 academic year and that only tuition charges – not room, board, or fees – are covered by the Plan.

We strongly encourage you to read the coverage section carefully and assess the Plan’s suitability for your family’s situation. If you wish to participate online, you must submit your application and payment before the first day of classes, September 4, 2014. Please note that if a student participates in a study away program not administered by Williams this TRP policy is not in force. Alternative arrangements may be made for coverage during that semester through Dewar.
