Barnard College

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:
Given the substantial commitment that students and their families make to underwrite a course of study at Barnard, we are concerned that you protect your financial investment in the educational enterprise. Of particular concern is the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave the College before a semester is completed. Accordingly, we are pleased to offer for the 2014/2015 academic year the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP), as a way of protecting your investment at a reasonable cost.

This is a private insurance program that supplements the College's refund policy for complete withdrawals. Subscribers are assured a refund throughout the term, even though Barnard's own refund policy may have expired at the time of withdrawal. An 80% refund applies to covered charges for medical withdrawals. The chart below is a sample illustration of how the Tuition Refund Plan works to complement Barnard's complete withdrawal policy:

We hope that this voluntary insurance plan may be of assistance to you. Please read the coverage section carefully to determine its suitability for your needs. If you wish to participate in the Tuition Refund Plan online, you must submit the application before the first day of classes, September 2, 2014 for Fall 2014 or January 20, 2015 for Spring 2015. Applications cannot be accepted on or after these dates.

If you have questions, please contact Philip Beattie at Dewar (617) 774-1555.

Sincerely,
