Dear Students and Parents: |
With the current level of education costs, we have a concern for the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave Miami University before the semester is completed. In many instances, this means not only the loss of time invested in studies, but also the loss of the semester's costs. We are pleased to advise you of an insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan (T.R.P.), which will minimize the financial loss.
This elective insurance plan provides coverage for Instruction Fee, General Fee, Off Campus Technology Fee, Metro Fee, Board and Room charges. Room rate coverage is restricted to the standard double occupancy fee. Adjustments in coverage are not made for variations in the actual dormitory living arrangement.
The Tuition Refund Plan significantly extends and enhances the University's published refund policy. For all medical withdrawals, subject to policy conditions, you are assured of a minimum refund of 90% throughout the term, even after the University's policy has expired. This is especially beneficial when you are forced to withdraw and then return for a later term. The program will pay 90% of the term fees, less any refund or credit due the student by the University, for a medical withdrawal. This benefit will minimize the financial impact of repeating lost educational credits. The chart below illustrates how the Tuition Refund Plan complements our refund schedule for tuition costs. |
|   | | If the Withdrawal Occurs Before: | University Refunds: | The T.R.P. Refunds: | Student Receives: | | 5 p.m. of the 5th day of the term | 100% | 0% | 100% | | 5 p.m. of the 8th day of the term | 90% | 0% | 90% | | 5 p.m. of the 20th day of the term | 50% | 40% | 90% | | 5 p.m. of the 30th day of the term | 35% | 55% | 90% | | 5 p.m. of the 40th day of the term | 25% | 65% | 90% | | Balance of the semester | 0% | 90% | 90% |

We are providing the Tuition Refund Plan as an option for students and parents. It is vital that those who wish to participate online submit the application and premium before the first day of the fall term. Online applications cannot be accepted on or after the first day of the term. If you have any questions about the plan, please call A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. at (617) 774-1555.
Sincerely,
Kristine L. Cassano Bursar |
