Alfred University

To Our Students and Parents:
With the current level of education costs, we have had a concern for the student who suffers a serious illness or accident and has to leave Alfred University before the semester is completed. In many instances, it means not only the loss of time invested in studies, but also the loss of the semester's costs.

We are pleased to advise you of the following insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan, which will minimize the financial portion of the loss. This elective insurance plan provides coverage for tuition, fees, room and board charges. Accordingly, the costs insured for the 2013-2014 academic year are $40,392.00 for a private sector in-coming freshman.

This Plan significantly extends and enhances the University's refund policy. You are assured of a refund throughout the entire semester, if you withdraw for medical reasons. The coverage refunds 100% of any tuition, room, board and student service fee not refunded by the University. For mental health withdrawals, the Plan refunds 60%. Coverage is especially beneficial when you are forced to withdraw and then return for a later term. In effect, you will not have to pay to repeat lost education.

Since this Plan has proven to be an effective means of protecting parent's investment in their children's education, we are pleased to present it for your consideration. To enroll online, simply complete and submit the application and payment. Applications must be submitted before August 26, 2013, the first class day. Online applications will not be accepted on or after this date. Questions regarding the Plan should be addressed to A.W.G. Dewar at (617) 774-1555.

Sincerely,

Debra Votava
Assistant Controller/Bursar
