Dear Parents and Students: |
The college is a participating institution of the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP), which is administered by a company called A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. This plan is an optional insurance program that would enhance Vassar's refund policy, as published in our College catalogue, in the event of an unexpected leave from Vassar due to a medical condition. Subscribers are assured of a 70% refund throughout the term, even though Vassar's own refund policy may have expired at the time of withdrawal. This money can, in turn, be used to repay any education loan or grant which must be returned in the event that a student withdraws from the college.
The table below illustrates how TRP complements Vassar's refund policy for a withdrawal due to medical illness or accident. The Plan will refund 70% of the insured tuition and fees minus the portion refunded by the college.

As Vassar is a participating institution in this plan, this provides you with the opportunity to purchase this insurance in the event that it may be needed to provide some financial recovery to you. We urge you to read the coverage section to determine the plan's suitability for your needs. If you wish to apply online, please submit your application before the first day of classes, September 4, 2012. Applications cannot be accepted on or after this date.
