Dear Parents and Students,
|
Students who suffer a serious illness or accident are at times compelled by these circumstances to withdraw from Siena College before the term's end, forgoing both the time and the tuition they have already invested in their classes. We are concerned with helping you protect your investments, and are therefore pleased to inform you of a valuable insurance program, the Tuition Refund Plan.
The Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) is administered by A.W.G. Dewar of Quincy, Massachusetts and extends and enhances the College's published refund policy.
In the event of a withdrawal due to medical reasons, the TRP assures you a 100% refund (coverage is limited to 60% in case of withdrawal due to a mental health condition) even after the College's own refund policy has expired. This is especially beneficial for students who are forced to withdraw and later return to repeat lost credit hours. This insurance option may be redundant or additional to your existing insurance coverage. You should check with your insurance agent to determine how the TRP may benefit you and your child.
The chart below illustrates how the Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) complements our refund schedule for Tuition charges.
|
| | | If the Withdrawal Occurs During | College Refund | TRP Refund | Student Receives | | First Day of Semester | 100% | 0% | 100% | | First Two Weeks | 80% | 20% | 100% | | Third Week | 60% | 40% | 100% | | Fourth Week | 40% | 60% | 100% | | Fifth Week | 20% | 80% | 100% | | Balance of Semester | 0% | 100% | 100% |

Note: Per the College's Catalog, fees are not refundable.
The coverage section describes the plan in more detail. Please read it carefully. This is a voluntary program. If you wish to subscribe online, please complete the application and submit it with payment of the appropriate amount. In order to be accepted, your application must be received prior to September 3, 2013. Applications cannot be accepted on or after this day.
If you have any questions you may contact A.W.G. Dewar at (617) 774-1555.
Sincerely,
