Maryland Institute College of Art

Dear Students and Parents,
We know many of you have concerns about the possibility of your son or daughter suffering from a serious illness or accident and having to leave the Maryland Institute College of Art before the semester is completed. In these situations, there is not only the loss of time invested in studies, but also the loss of the semester's costs.

MICA is pleased to advise you of an insurance program called the Tuition Refund Plan, being offered by A.W.G. Dewar, Inc., as a way of protecting that investment. This elective insurance plan provides coverage for Tuition charges for each semester of the 2012-2013 academic year.

This plan significantly extends and enhances the College's published refund policy. You are assured of a substantive refund throughout the term, even after the College's own refund policy has expired. The chart below illustrates how the Tuition Refund Plan complements MICA's own refund schedule for tuition charges:

Note: For mental health withdrawals, the Tuition Refund Plan refunds at a 60% level.

We are presenting the Tuition Refund Plan as an option for students and parents to consider. It is an inexpensive form of protection, and we advise you to read the coverage section and consider the advantages. If you would like to enroll in the plan online, please submit the application and premium payment before August 27, 2012. Applications cannot be accepted on or after this date. If you have any questions about the Tuition Refund Plan, please contact A.W.G. Dewar at (617) 774-1555 or by email at
